With no dead cars thankfully.

So Jenn's still in Boston. Originally it was just going to be for the week, but they had to extend the stay to get done what they needed to get done. It's basically been a rolling date for about 3-4 days now: Looks like Saturday, no wait Sunday, OK definitely Monday. I haven't heard otherwise yet this morning so I'm assuming she's in a plane somewhere headed to Memphis right about now to catch her connecting.

XBox has definitely been getting a workout this week. Here's what I can tell you so far:

  • Halo 3. Pretty much what I expected. Not sure if I'll get into the multiplayer with TF2 on my computer now, we'll see.
  • Bioshock. Only played it about 20 minutes or so but I'll definitely be back on the game.
  • Dead Rising. It's hella-fun killing zombies in different ways. I doubt I'll ever beat this game because it seems like the missions are sort of high on my frustration level though.
  • NCAA '08. Digital crack for me right now. I knew it would be when I got it. I don't know what it is about a game like this, but taking KU to a national powerhouse, running up incredible stats with custom players...I can't get enough.
As mentioned I also picked up Orange Box for the PC this week. I haven't even touched anything besides Team Fortress2. It's fun, though I seriously suck at it. I think maybe I played way too much TFC and got too used to having grenades or something. With the XBox and WoW I probably won't get into this on the level I got into TFC (which admittedly was just short of "lifeblood").

I also had my friend Brad's wedding this weekend. James, Kevin and Becker were all over Saturday morning and we played XBox, a little Dead Rising and actually ended up beating Halo on co-op. The wedding was a wedding, there was a reception, we had a couple of beers, that's about it.

Chiefs won and looked awesome again, in their inevitable march to 7-9. Jayhawks won and continued to look awesome. In fact they are #13 in the BCS, which of course is hilarious when you realize that they are ahead of teams like USC and Florida. I know that both of those teams have issues this year and maybe aren't the dominating forces of nature we thought they might be, but still: Can you imagine what USC would do to KU? They have two road games coming up against Colorado and A&M. Even if they can manage a split there, they'll be looking pretty damn good coming down the stretch.

Short week this week, as both Jenn and I will be taking either part of the day/all day off Friday to head up to KC for a long weekend. The 19th coincidentally is our anniversary (4th); don't spoil the surprise but my plan is to maybe take in a jazz/supper club that evening. We're back the following Tuesday and will be taking the rest of the week off, which as it turns out will be well earned by Jenn.

And then after that it's November. Wow.

Good pickup with DA by Bob Abooey (4.00 / 1) #1 Mon Oct 15, 2007 at 01:01:01 PM EST
The guy is starting to look like a real quarterback. Scored 34 big ones for you but it looks like it wasn't enough as Alprazolam is starting to heat up.

The Maulers had an off week - I expect them to come back strong and hand you a severe beating next week.

Warmest regards,

It's a smart move by Bob Abooey (4.00 / 1) #4 Mon Oct 15, 2007 at 04:17:43 PM EST
It's actually pretty smart to bench your guys, rather than risk season ending injuries handed to them by the Maulers. You would be wise to heed the warning and do the same.

Warmest regards,

Bioshock by wiredog (2.00 / 0) #2 Mon Oct 15, 2007 at 01:21:48 PM EST
I fear that game.  Everyone I know who's played it loves it.  Even those (like me) who hate videogames.
